Dakota Valley school salutes Veterans

The Pledge of Allegiance and a performance of the “Star Spangled Banner”, sung by Dakota Valley’s choir members, started the Panther’s Veterans Day Program on November 11, 2024. Students in grades 6th-12th were in attendance, as well as teachers, staff and guests. A row of local Veterans sat in the center to be honored.

International Fire Code discussed for DDCID

On October 21, 2024, at 6 pm, the Dakota Dunes Community Improvement District (CID) Board of Supervisors met for a regular meeting. The meeting occurred at the Welcome Center, on Sioux Point Road, with the following members in attendance: Ken Beaulieu, Bill Shorma, Scott Wetz, Julie Shanafelt and Janet Finzen.

DV Theatre’s “The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane”

The Dakota Valley Theatre department took the stage on Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16 for their production of “The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane”. The play was adapted by Dwayne Hartford and based on the famous book written by Kate DiCamillo.

DV team debates in the George McGovern Invitational

The high school speech and debate team, at Dakota Valley, was off to a busy start for the first full week of November. The Panthers had 2 competitions and performed well. On Monday, November 4, 2024 the Panthers were at Sioux Falls Jefferson High School. Then on November 8-9, 2024, the DV students participated in the 32nd Annual George McGovern Speech and Debate Invitational in Mitchell, South Dakota.

EPJ Huskies National Honor Society induction

Elk Point-Jefferson inducted their 2024 National Honor Society members on Thursday, November 14, 2024. The ceremony took place at 7:30 pm in the Husky’s high school gymnasium.

Torrez resigns as County auditor

On November 12, 2024, the Union County Board of Commissioners held a regular session at the Courthouse in Elk Point, South Dakota. The meeting commenced at 8:30 a.m., with four members present: Michael Dailey, Kevin Joffer, Peggy Ustad, and Tom Kimmel. The agenda was approved with two significant additions: an Associated Consulting Engineering Contract and a discussion regarding the Auditor vacancy.

EPJ riding in style with Foreman Busing

The Elk Point-Jefferson School District is excited to have an outstanding partnership with Foreman Busing, a leading provider of transportation services. Foreman Busing provides transportation services for all bus routes and activity routes. Foreman Busing has recently added a new executive coach bus to its fleet, primarily for the athletic and activity programs at the school.
