This past month, North Sioux City had the opportunity to participate in the Tri-State Governors’ Conference, hosted right here in Siouxland. It was an honor to be part of this longstanding tradition that brings together leaders from South Dakota, Iowa, and Nebraska to focus on the shared opportunities and challenges we face as a region.

Closure was observed at the Union County Courthouse on Monday, August 25, 2025 when a life sentence, without parole, was handed down to Alfredo Castellanos-Rosales. The Sioux City man was convicted in June of killing Dakota Dunes resident Jordan (Jordy) Beardshear.

The City Commission approved a series of infrastructure payments and authorized property appraisals tied to McCook Lake’s recovery during its Aug. 18 regular meeting, as residents voiced support for the Northshore Bypass and urged the city to retain state funding.
