A driver who fled from a traffic stop Sunday evening died after a pursuit through North Sioux City ended in a three‑vehicle crash that destroyed two police units, according to Union County authorities.

Dakota Dunes residents were notified this week that the speed limit on Dakota Dunes Boulevard will remain 35 mph, following more than a year of review by the Dakota Dunes Community Improvement District and the Union County Sheriff’s Office. Because the speed limit is unchanged, golf carts will continue to be prohibited from operating on the boulevard, except when crossing at designated points. The update applies only to Dakota Dunes residents.

Dakota Valley high schoolers gathered in the Panther theater room on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 to participate in a question and answer session with South Dakota Congressman Dusty Johnson.
