Communication tower project bid awarded

The bid for Union County’s new communication tower and generator project was awarded Oct. 31. The Union County Board of County Commissioners awarded the $337,712.37 bid to One Way Wireless Construction out of Shakopee, MN. The company has until July 2024 to complete the project.

Christmas at the Homestead

Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve would like to invite their visitors to get in the holiday spirit and take a step back in time by attending the annual Christmas at the Homestead Saturday, Nov. 11 from noon to 4 p.m.

The marching has come to an end…

It is hard to believe, but the marching band season has come to a close. It seems we just got started. We had a total of 16 rehearsals and with 15 performances, it was a busy start to the year for the band.

Dakota Valley Theatre presents PUFFS this weekend

The cast and crew of Dakota Valley’s three-act production of the play PUFFS have been working hard in preparation for their performances at 7 p.m. on Nov. 10 and 11. They will take the stage in DV’s Performing Arts Center.

Ann Rehan Goebel Foundation 5K

The first ever 5K race event for the Ann Rehan Goebel Foundation was held on Sunday, Nov. 5 in Dakota Dunes. There was a great crowd in attendance on the beautiful November day. The starting line was at Prairie Park with the finish line happening near the Dakota Dunes Dog Park.

Car chase ends by McCook Lake

A chase that began in Sioux City, IA on Military Road came to an end by the Izaak Walton League near McCook Lake Tuesday, Nov. 7.

In the early morning hours around 2 a.m., a vehicle that had been reported stolen was located in the Riverside area of Sioux City. A Woodbury County Deputy Sheriff attempted to pull the vehicle over, but was led on a chase.
