The City of North Sioux City Parks and Recreation held its annual Summer Recreation program June 5 through June 28. This year, the program was capped at 50 participants. People who live in North Sioux City, McCook Lake or Dakota Dunes can participate in this program.

The Izaak Walton League held their annual Youth Fishing Derby at McCook Lake Saturday, June 17. This year, 74 kids attended and ranged in ages from 2 up to age 18.

Lots of activity was happening at the Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve on June 21st as it was the second day of a three-day nature camp for registered children ages 5-years-old to 7-years old. The camp was called Backbone Bonanza and allowed the youngsters in attendance to learn more about creatures with spines.

With the last day of school and the first day of summer, children will be out more frequently enjoying the nice weather and the outdoors. They might also be out on recreational vehicles. While some areas allow for the use of recreational vehicles, there are rules for people to abide by.

UnityPoint Clinic – Dakota Dunes will offer additional convenience to residents in the Dakota Dunes and North Sioux City communities by providing healthcare services close to home.

Before the Sioux Point Road realignment project grand opening was held (June 22), the North Sioux City City Council approved payments for the construction at their meeting June 20. The first was change order #5 which reduced the cost of the project by $39,845.39 and change the completion date to June 30.
