First Dakota National Bank 3-Class Shootout

Road closure scheduled for SD Highway 46 reconstruction project near Beresford

On April 3, 2024, SD Highway 46, from the east edge of the City of Beresford to SD Highway 11, is tentatively scheduled to close. The closure date will depend upon weather and road conditions along the project. During the closure, motorists will be directed to the signed detour route on Interstate 29, Lincoln County Highway 152, and Highway 11. Access to residences and properties adjacent to the project will be maintained for local traffic. Work to be completed during the first year of this twoyear project includes full roadway grading, replacement of three structures, interim surfacing and new signing from east of Beresford to Highway 11.

Bank robbed in North Sioux City

A 44-year-old Sioux City male has been charged in the attempted robbery of a North Sioux City bank on March 12. Around 2:30 p.m., a man identified as Dennis John Manchester walked into Liberty National Bank, located at 113 Military Road, and handed the teller a note and brandished a weapon.

Informational meeting planned for SD Highway 46 reconstruction project near Beresford

The South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT) will hold a pre-construction informational meeting to share details about the SD Highway 46 construction project planned from the east city limits of Beresford to the Iowa state line. The informational meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2024, at the Beresford Public Library, located at 115 S. 3rd St. in Beresford. Representatives from SDDOT and the contracting firm will be available to answer questions and discuss the project. Information will be provided on the project schedule and process.

Two students place at State Art Show

Two Dakota Valley art students came home with hardware from the South Dakota High School Activities Association’s annual art show on March 15 and 16. They were Sophia Durr for ceramics and Maddy Grooms for mixed media. Both Panthers received second place medals.
