New Year’s remarks, resolutions

“I would have two wishes for 2023. First, on a personal note, I pray my son-in-law in Omaha finds his way completely back from the stroke he suffered in October. Secondly, as a 40 year retired executive with IBP/ Tyson Fresh Meats, I’m hopeful that Siouxland comes together to find jobs for the hundreds and hundreds of team members who have elected to remain in our great community and not make the move to Arkansas.”

Homestead Holidays

The last weekend of Homestead Holidays was Dec. 23-25 and the lights were blazing despite frigid temperatures and winter storm warnings. South Dakota state offices were closed Dec. 22 due to the wind chill conditions and reported blizzards throughout the state. This closure included the Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve’s visitor center which was also closed from Dec. 23 to Dec. 27 for the holiday.

Noem appoints Magstadt as Secretary of Health

University of Sioux Falls Nicole Jacobson was named to the Fall 2022 Dean’s List. Jacobson is majoring in Business Administration and Sports Management.

Seventh graders hold Culture Fair

The seventh graders of Dakota Valley introduced parents, friends, staff and classmates from other grade levels to countries from around the world on Tuesday, Dec. 20. The Seventh-Grade Culture Fair was held in the middle school auxiliary gym and the upper elementary commons. Visitors could come and hear about a variety of countries from 1:30-3:00 p.m.

Fickett promoted
