Tuesday night, Jan. 31, was an at-the-end-of-yourseat and nail-biting kind of game between the Elk Point-Jefferson and Lennox girls.

Panther grapplers battle Bucks,Tanagers, defeat Nebraska

Despite illness and injury, January ended strong for the Dakota Valley varsity boys wrestling squad with some solid wins on the mat. The Panthers wrestled Vermillion and Yankton during a triangular on Tuesday, Jan. 31, and team scoring was close with DV falling 21-57 to the Yankton Bucks and 24-54 to the Tanagers.

Panthers pull off two solid victories

It was two hard contests and two solid victories for the Dakota Valley (DV) boys varsity basketball team when they beat Elk Point-Jefferson (EPJ) in an away game on Feb. 2 and then travelled to the Pentagon in Sioux Falls to take down Western Christian on Feb. 4.

It was a short road trip to Elk-Point Jefferson (EPJ) on Groundhog’s Day that had the Panthers leaving victorious after a resounding 54-17 win against the Huskies. “We played an outstanding overall game against a very good Elk Point team,” head coach Tammy Lilly summarized.

Two tough opponents faced the Dakota Valley girls basketball roster to end the month of January. The Panthers fell 48-60 to Sioux Falls Christian (SFC) at home on Thursday, Jan. 26 and would lose a close one to Milbank on Saturday, Jan. 28 by a score of 43-53.
