Lady Panthers shut out Bulldogs

The Dakota Valley girls basketball team closed out the regular season with a resounding victory versus the Madison Bulldogs on Friday, Feb. 17. The Panthers had great shots on offense and played tough defense to secure the away game win by a score of 5228.

Panthers paw down Tanagers, defeat Quarriers

It was a barn burner on Tuesday, Feb. 7 when the undefeated Dakota Valley boys basketball team went to Vermillion to take on the Tanagers. A vulnerable 3rd quarter had the Panthers see their 15-point lead dwindle down as the game progressed. However, DV did what they do best and came through in the clutch to leave Vermillion with their perfect record still intact.

Boys increase winning record

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies had 2 more wins – one on the road and one at home. The boys faced off against Canton Feb.

Huskies have a full week of competitions

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies girls had a long week of basketball with three road games and one home game. Two of the games they played were rescheduled from January.

Girls show tenacity during games against Tanagers, Quarriers

The Dakota Valley girls basketball team had two road games in the _rst full week of Februar y. Both were exciting contests that showed the stamina and grit of this DV team. The Panthers would lose a close battle versus the Vermillion Tanagers on Tuesday, Feb. 7, but they would take down the Dell Rapids Quarriers on Friday, Feb. 10.

DV wrestles EPJ, wins against Vermillion

It was a fun and exciting night for the Dakota Valley varsity wrestlers on Tuesday, Feb. 7 as they hosted conference rival Elk-Point Jefferson for a home dual. In addition to great matches, it was also DV’s senior night and the annual youth wrestling dual between the Panthers and the Huskies for wrestlers ranging in grades junior kindergarten to 6th. Approximately 20 members of the Panther Youth Wrestling club came out to cheer on the high schoolers and wrestle for the crowd after the high school dual finished.

Rules adopted for first season of girls’ softball

A game hasn’t been played yet by the newly SDHSAA-sanctioned softball teams, but the South Dakota High School Activities Association board of directors spent some time on Wednesday ensuring that there were rules in place for the proper stoppage of play.

Huskies take 3rd with multiple podium finishes

Out of the 12 Huskies that wrestled in DeSmet Feb. 4, 7 of them garnered 4th place finishes or higher and finished 3rd as a team.
