Dakota Valley Panthers ready for the state tournament

The Dakota Valley boys basketball team will be vying for another state championship this weekend as they head to Sioux Falls on March 16-18 to take on the top Class A teams in South Dakota. The Panthers enter the 2023 state tournament undefeated with a record of 23-0.

Dakota Valley youth wrestlers punch ticket to state

District qualifiers from the Panther Wrestling club travelled to Yankton on Saturday, March 11 to compete in regional competition. There were 15 grapplers from Dakota Valley competing and by the end of the day 6 wrestlers would punch tickets to state and a grand total of 8 would finish as placewinners in the tough regional contest.

Panthers secure state berth while breaking records

For the SoDak-16 game the #1 seeded Dakota Valley boys basketball team travelled to the neutral site of Harrisburg to take on #16 Miller. It was a game of showmanship by the Panthers as they punched their ticket to state and took down the Rustlers 94-41.

Huskies defeated Canton and Vermillion to advance to SoDak-16

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies defeated Canton and Vermillion to make it through region play into the SoDak-16. The first game against the Canton C-Hawks got off to a fast start for the Huskies, putting up 22 points to the C-Hawks 16.

Panthers defeat Parker,Tea Area, advance to SoDak-16

The Panther boys varsity basketball team closed out February with a siren as they won huge in the first round of South Dakota Region 4A play against the Parker Pheasants. Dakota Valley (DV) played at home and outscored their opponents in every quarter to win 85-31 on Tuesday, Feb. 28.

The South Dakota High School Sports Awards announced the nominees for all of the fall sports played in the state of South Dakota. The winners of each of the following sports will be announced during the live show to be held June 12 at the Mary W. Sommervold Hall at the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls.

Panther boys end regular season with strong win

Dakota Valley’s senior night for boys basketball brought a lot of emotion and cheers for the class of 2023 players. Prior to the game, Coach Jason Kleis described what the senior boys have meant to the team and to the season as they looked to take on Lennox on Friday, Feb. 24. It was the last regular season home game and the Panthers started strong to never once relent en route to an 89-57 victory.

Four Panthers went to state; Boonstra takes 6th

Four Dakota Valley wrestlers travelled to Rapid City on Feb. 23-25 to wrestle for a chance to be a state placewinner. Sophomore Jackson Boonstra was impressive on his way to a 6th place _nish in a highly competitive 145-pound weight class. Cameron Curry gained valuable experience as a 7th grader on the state stage while Gracie Delgado and McKenzie Scott both saw success past their invitation for the double elimination state tourney.
