EPJ stuns Wagner, continue strong play in busy week

It was a packed gym on January 13, 2026 for Husky girls basketball as the Wagner Red Raiders were in Elk Point. Wagner’s roster boasted top recruit Ashlyn Koupal who is committed to play basketball at the University of Nebraska next fall. In addition to fans and family, Coach Amy Williams with the Nebraska Cornhuskers also attended the game to observe the contest between EPJ and Wagner.

Huskies show fight in Wagner, Ponca contests

The Red Raiders of Wagner were visiting the Elk Point-Jefferson boys basketball team on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. The game was close with the Huskies clawing for the lead, however ultimately it would end in a 54-61 loss.

DV posts four medalists at Floyd Farrand Invitational

To end the year, Dakota Valley wrestled in the 2025 Floyd Farrand Boys Invitational, in Sioux Falls, on December 30th. Top competitors from central and eastern South Dakota were in attendance. The Panthers finished 10th in team placing as they squared off against 21 different schools.

Panthers notch two decisive wins to start 2026

Panther boys basketball closed out 2025 with a win and began 2026 with another victory to set a good tone for the rest of the season. Dakota Valley played in the Parkston Classic on December 30, 2025. Then it was a long road the next week as the roster was in West River to face Lakota Tech.

DV girls surge past MCM, HCC to remain unbeaten

Undefeated was how the Dakota Valley girls basketball team closed out 2025 and began 2026. On December 30, 2025 they beat McCook Central/ Montrose (MCM) in the Parkston Classic. Then they crossed the river to Nebraska on January 2, 2026 for another Panther victory. This time versus Hartington Cedar Catholic.

EPJ ties for 9th, earns five medals at MCM Invite

January 3, 2026 marked the 1st wrestling contest of the new year for the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies. The team competed against over 20 schools in the McCook Central Montrose (MCM) Invitational. As a roster, EPJ finished tied for 9th with 81 points. Redfield also had 91 points.

Huskies rebound with wins over Gettysburg, Canton

Conference foe Dell Rapids was in town to face the Elk Point-Jefferson boys basketball team on December 22, 2025. The Huskies fought hard and stayed close with the Quarriers throughout the 1st half, and even throughout the 3rd quarter. However, momentum on offense swung in the direction of DR as EPJ fell 56-80.

EPJ pushes Canton to overtime in hard‑fought battle

The Huskies were set to play Canton in 2025, but Mother Nature had other plans as the rescheduled date pushed the contest to January 5, 2026. No matter the date, it would be a great contest on Elk Point-Jefferson’s home basketball court. Ultimately, the match-up extended to overtime and had EPJ falling just short of a victory.

DV boys dominate C‑Hawks to open winter break

Dakota Valley boys varsity had back-to-back games to commence the Panther’s winter break. The C-Hawks from Canton were in North Sioux City to play DV on Friday, December 19, 2025. Strong play was observed right away by DV as they gained early momentum.

Panthers land seven podium finishes at Husky Invite

Multiple appearances on podiums happened for Dakota Valley wrestling on December 20, 2025. The Panthers were in Elk Point for the Husky Invite and came out strong on the mat across many weight classes. Grayson Pirner, DV head wrestling coach, was happy with his squad’s performance throughout the tournament. “We came out and wrestled well for our second time on the mat this season. We had 7 guys place in the top 6, led by runner-up finishes from Jorge Morales at 138 lbs and Bennett Lukken at 175 lbs. It was good to see the kids come out and battle every match,” commented Coach Pirner.
