Ready for another magically undefeated season

The Panther boys high school basketball team hit the gym for the start of the practices on Monday, Nov. 27. Dakota Valley will look to continue their undefeated season winning streak that has been in succession for back-to-back years.

Panthers compete in first tournament of season

Competition started for the Dakota Valley wrestling team on Saturday, Dec. 2 in Orange City, IA at the Lyle Lundren Duals hosted by MOC-Floyd Valley school. The following areas in Iowa make up the MOC-Floyd Valley district: Maurice, Orange City, Alton, Hospers and Granville.

A new sport emerges in the age of technology

As part of the South Dakota High School Activities Association’s pilot program, Dakota Valley is one of potentially 30 schools to offer esports for the 2023-24 winter season. It was approved by the DV board of education this past school year and from there the Panthers hit the ground running.

Panthers earn a 5th place finish after tough matches at state tournament

South Dakota state volleyball took place on Nov. 16, 17 and 18 in Rapid City. The Panthers entered the state tournament with a #7 ranking. The South Dakota Public Broadcasting (SDPB) announcers complemented DV’s strength of schedule and noted multiple times that the Panthers were not a typical #7 seed.

All-Conference football selections

Members of the Elk Point-Jefferson football team were named to Big East Conference All-Conference teams. They included, Seniors Evan Fornia, Jake Gale and Garrett Merkley and Junior Hudson Kempf. Those named as Honorable Mention were Senior Reed Sayler and Juniors Keaton Gale and Grayson Girard.

Patee swims at state meet

Natalie Patee, of Dakota Dunes, swam with her Sioux City Metros team at the 2023 Iowa Girls State Swimming & Diving Meet on Nov. 10 and 11 in Marshalltown, IA.

Huskies finish 2nd after another great season

Find A Way. That was the Huskies theme this year as reigning Class B State Football Champions. And they did just that, they found a way through the regular season; found a way through the semi-finals; and found themselves back at the Dome.

Dakota Valley defeats Aberdeen Roncalli to advance to State

The Dakota Valley volleyball team went up against Aberdeen Roncalli, in the neutral site of Watertown, for the Class A SoDak 16 Qualifier. Both rosters came to play on Tuesday, Nov. 7 with hopes of punching a ticket to the state tournament.

VanRooyan receives women’s volleyball award

The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) held its women’s volleyball awards night on the eve of the 2023 conference postseason tournament. The awards were held at the Goss Opera House in downtown Watertown, where three Dakota State University athletes received honors during the presentation – Sydney Schell, Kate VanRooyan and Madalyn Groft.

Pack the Dome: Huskies head to state championship

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies did it again. It was a match-up of last year’s state tournament game in Winner on Friday, Nov. 3 as the Huskies challenged the undefeated Warriors on their home field. The long drive didn’t hinder the Huskies though as they fought to keep their state run alive.
