DV Sideline Cheer

It will be football season soon and sideline cheer tryouts have already taken place for Dakota Valley as everyone gears up for Friday Night Lights in 2025. Thirteen student athletes were selected to be a part of the Panther sideline cheer squad for football. A mixture of upperclassmen seniors and juniors in addition to some sophomores make up the team.

EPJ rebounds with 13-1 win after tough doubleheader

Elk Point-Jefferson’s junior legion baseball team had a trio of games to end the month of July. On July 28, 2025 the Huskies faced two tough ball clubs in Dakota Valley (DV) and Beresford. The next day, they were up against Canton and secured a big victory 13-1.

Walk-off wonders: Panthers punch ticket to State

The Panther’s senior legion baseball team showed up for regionals in a big way to advance to the South Dakota 2025 Class “B” Senior American Legion Baseball State Championship Tournament. To get there, Dakota Valley garnered wins on each day of regional play from July 21-23, 2025.

EPJ Legion bows out after hard-fought regional run

Elk Point-Jefferson’s senior legion baseball team saw their season end in regionals on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. Tough competition was present, but the Huskies stayed past their invitation in the double elimination tournament.

Panthers bounce back with win after loss to EPJ

The Panthers had back-to-back games on July 16 and July 17, 2025. Both were tough contests and the result was 1 loss and 1 victory for Dakota Valley.

Runners raced for a cause at the 5th Annual Cross Country 5K Road Race Fundraiser, held Saturday, July 19, 2025. The event brought together dozens of participants and supporters, with community spirit and fast finishes marking a successful day.

USD Coyotes lead youth football camp at Elk Point-Jefferson

The Huskies football program joined forces with the Coyotes of the University of South Dakota (USD) to bring a skills camp to Elk Point on July 15-16, 2025. Interested young athletes from Elk Point-Jefferson were invited with over 50 youth campers ultimately attending the event The camp was held on the EPJ high school football field. Starting at 6 pm, there were 3rd through 6th graders taking the field to work on skills and drills for 90 minutes. At 7:30 pm, it was then time for 7th-9th graders to have their turn to work on football fundamentals.

EPJ tops DV, falls to Vermillion in Legion matchups

The Huskies had legion baseball back-to-back days on July 16 and July 17, 2025. A huge victory was seized versus nearby rival Dakota Valley (DV) as Elk Point-Jefferson claimed the win by a score of 3-1. The next day they battled Vermillion and were on the losing end 3-13.

Panthers split nail-biters with Crofton, Vermillion

Two close games were played by the Dakota Valley senior legion baseball team with both contests being decided by just 1 run. On Wednesday, July 9, 2025 the Panthers bested Crofton by a score of 4-3. However, on Friday, July 11, 2025 DV fell, 6-7, to Vermillion Legion Post 1.

AAU 15 and under national champs

The Midwest Elite 15 and under volleyball squad had an incredible run in Orlando, Florida on June 2528, 2025. The roster played hard in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) competition to ultimately be crowned national champions out of 158 teams. Two local high schoolers were on the roster for the Midwest Elite 15s. The two assistant coaches are also from the local area.
