Staying aggressive will lead them back to state

The Dakota Valley girls basketball program is excited for another season of play after coming off of last year’s success which garnered a winning record and state berth. The Panthers placed 6th at the state tournament at Frost Arena in Brookings in March of 2022.

Striving for a repeat performance

The Dakota Valley boys basketball team has big goals this season as they look to repeat a stellar state performance and maintain their status as a powerhouse program for the conference, in Region 4A and for all of South Dakota.

CONGRATULATIONS

A three day battle – that’s what the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies endured during the State A Volleyball Tournament in Sioux Falls Nov. 17-19. The Huskies went into the state tournament ranked #8 and due to the bracket set up, had to face the #1 seed – Wagner.

Wiese signs with Morningside

Dakota Valley senior Emma Wiese signed her letter of intent to play softball at Morningside University in Sioux City on Monday, Nov. 14. Head Coach Brooke Pruner and assistant coach/assistant athletic director Jessica Jones-Sitzmann were on-hand for the signing, along with Wiese’s family, friends, teammates and high school coaches.

Metros hockey begins in area

Metros Varsity squad won both games against the Ames Little Cyclones the weekend of Nov. 12, winning Saturday, Nov. 12 5-0 and Sunday, Nov. 13 4-1. Dakota Valley Junior Grant Harder completed the weekend with 2 goals 2 assists while Sophomore Blaze Bauer, who was currently leading the team in goals, added 1 more making his season total 7.

Class A state volleyball play started on Thursday, Nov. 17 at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls.

STATE CHAMPS

Making history. That’s the theme for the Elk Point-Jefferson Husky football team this year.

Heading to state

With a trip to state on the line, the Huskies travelled to Stanley County High School to face off against Rapid City Christian. Last year, the Huskies ended their season in 5 sets and they weren’t going to make that mistake again this year.

Back to state and seeking top finish

The Panther volleyball team travelled to Centerville, SD to take on the Baltic Bulldogs at a neutral site on Tuesday, Nov. 8. The winner would advance to the South Dakota High School Athletic Association’s state tournament and the losers would see their season end.
