BHSU volleyball team visits Elk Point

On Friday, Aug. 26, the Black Hills State University volleyball team rolled into Elk Point on their way to Missouri. The team bus pulled into the home of Corri and Seth Rubida for lunch before heading to the Rockhurst Invitational in Kansas City. According to first year BHSU head coach, Bree Davis, it is a team tradition to stop at the homes of players when they drive by. Karly Marx, a senior and recruit from Elk Point-Jefferson, is the starting setter of the 2022 team.

30 Huskies compete at Beresford Invite

On Friday, Aug. 26 the Elk Point-Jefferson Cross Country team made the short trip to Beresford to compete at the Beresford Cross Country Invite. Each year this meet gets more competitive and faster, with more teams and improvements to the South Dakota talent pool.

Huskies win dog fight

In a game of dog versus dog, the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies showed no mercy as they went for the throat of the Baltic Bulldogs Friday, Aug. 26 in Baltic. The contest ended quickly, as the Huskies scored 27 points in the 1st quarter and 28 in the 2nd to win the game 55-0 (ended by mercy rule) before halftime.

EPJ plays at DV Invite

Despite the morning rain and puddles along the golf trails, the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies travelled to the Two Rivers Golf Course in Dakota Dunes to play in the Dakota Valley Invitational Aug. 24. The Huskies took 8 golfers – 5 on varsity and 3 on JV.

Huskies start season 5-0

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies took the small town of Irene, SD by storm on Saturday, Aug. 27 2-setting their way through 5 matches.

Boys Golf:

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies boys golf team lost two lettermen due to graduation – Cade Fennel and Landon Geary – but return three players – Carter Langle (state qualifier), Lucas Hemmingstad and Evan Hailey (letter winners).

Huskies: Geared up and ready to go

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies were ready to play Friday, Aug. 19 in their season opener against Parker. After stepping onto the field, the Huskies didn’t look back crushing the Pheasants 50-0 and ending the game in the beginning of the 4th quarter.

Langle places 3rd in golf invite

Elk Point-Jefferson’s Carter Langle took 3rd place individually at the Dell Rapids golf invitational Aug. 22. On the par 71 course, Langle shot 6 over ending with a score of 77. The second place finisher was Dakota Munger of Chamberlain with a 74 and Eli Anema of Sioux Falls Christian was medalist with a 71.

Huskies play in first invite of season
