The Elk Point-Jefferson Legion baseball team competed in various games throughout June. The first half of June was previously published. Here are highlights from the last half of June: June 19 Tea 5, EPJ 4 at Tea Ben Swatek and Evan Hailey each had 2 of the Huskies 8 hits.

Athletes and teams representing 466 high schools from across the nation participated at the 2023 USA High School Clay Target League National Championship July 5-10, 2023. The USAHSCTL National Championship, which was held at the Michigan Trapshooting Association in Mason, MI, featured team and individual competition to award the top ten male and female high school athletes and top five high school teams in the country.

Ben Swatek of the Elk Point-Jefferson Baseball team was recently named to the Class B All-State 2nd Team..

The highlights on offensive over the 5 total games were Hannah Nearman had 2 homeruns, 2 triples and a double going 9-15 overall. Paige Jacobs had the game winning grand slam on Saturday evening while also adding a homerun, double and 7 other hits over the course of 5 games. Samantha Marx had 8 hits total, including a double. Lauren McDermott and Aynslee Goetzinger added doubles during the weekend play.

The Elk Point-Jefferson U16 softball team competed in the Siouxland Classic softball tournament at Riverside Park in Sioux City, IA June 24 and 25. On Saturday they beat a team from Illinois, called Mid-Illini by a score of 7-5. Then they beat South Dakota Select 9-1 and then won against SSC Storm 9-8 with a grand slam by Paige Jacobs.

The Elk Point-Jefferson Boys Basketball team recently received recognition from the south Dakota High School Activities Association for an Academic Team Award. In order to be awarded this honor, the team has to achieve or exceed a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Members of the Elk Point-Jefferson Baseball team were recently named to the Class B All-Region. They included Ben Swatek, Hunter Geary, Jake Gale, Keaton Gale and Ty Trometer..

The Elk Point-Jefferson Senior Legion baseball team opened their 2023 summer season June 2-4 at the Kyle Mueller Classic hosted by the Yankton American Legion Post 12 in Crofton, NE. EPJ defeated Norfolk 8-4 on June 2.

Madison Buenger competed in the State A Girls Golf Tournament June 5 and 6 in Rapid City. She represented Elk Point-Jefferson well on the Meadowbrook Golf Course, coming home with a 25th place _nish and making the Top 25 medals.
