Gwen Hall

Gwen Hall passed away, surrounded by family, on August 23, 2023 after an extended illness. On June 9, 2017, Gwen received a lifesaving double lung transplant and was thankful for every breath she took with that gift. This gift gave her time with her family and allowed her to watch her grandkids grow up. Gwen’s last wish is to have everyone complete their organ donor registration and make their wishes known to their families. Gwen was born Sept. 20, 1953, in Quonset Point, RI to Kenneth and Ruth Bartling. Gwen and her four sisters were raised on the family farm in rural Hooper, NE where they still farm today. Gwen married Rich Hall on July 20, 1975 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Hooper, not far from the family farm. Gwen and Rich were blessed with three daughters – Kendra, Kelly and Kacie.

Samuel Hatton, 89, of Vermillion, SD passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023 at Sanford Vermillion Care Center. Samuel B. Hatton, “S.B.” or “B,” was born on February 13, 1934, the youngest of ten children born to David and Russie Hatton, of Talihina, OK. There, he learned his lifelong love of hunting and fishing under the tutelage of his beloved mother, and his great sense of caring for others from his older brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, and lifelong friends, who took care of him in the years after his mother’s death. In high school, Sam was an enthusiastic member and president of his local FFA (Future Farmers of America) and a talented ball player, winning recognition, particularly, as a fine running back and passer in the game of football.
