DV, EPJ leaders meet on state budget outlook

‘Flurries of Fun’ begins at library

Finding the best winter books for patrons is always on the agenda for the North Sioux City library, but it is especially true as they usher in the new year. With the kickstart to 2026, there also comes the “Flurries of Fun” reading challenge. Librarian Liane Welte and her staff are thrilled to be organizing this 8-week program. They have been promoting it since the fall and are working hard to engage bookworms.

County advances projects, updates surplus rules

The Union County Commission moved through year‑end business Tuesday, approving contingency transfers, contracts and project actions during its Dec. 23 regular meeting at the courthouse.

Homestead Holidays lights up Adams

Closing out December was the 2025 Homestead Holidays at Adams Home‑stead and Nature Preserve in North Sioux City, South Dakota. Staff, volunteers and Park Manager Jody Moats worked hard to light up the natural beauty of the state park in festive flair for all to enjoy.

NSC Commission delays property resolution

The North Sioux City Com‑mission on Monday delayed action on a resolution tied to property acquisition for the Northshore By‑Pass project af‑ter too few members were pres‑ent to meet the required voting threshold. Mayor Pro Tem Ju‑lie Burhoop called the special meeting to order at 4 p.m., with Commissioners Lynn Hoffman and Jessica Strain in at‑tendance. Mayor Chris Bogenrief and Commis‑sioner Vincent Tucker were absent. City Ad‑ministrator Jeff Dooley, Finance Officer Amy Lilly and City Attorney Sarah Kle‑ber also attended.

Bousquet starts fifth‑grade student teaching at EPJ

Dakota State University student Sydney Bousquet is student teaching fifth grade for the spring semester in the Elk Point Jefferson School District. Bousquet is an elementary education and major from Elk Point, South Dakota.
