Finding the best winter books for patrons is always on the agenda for the North Sioux City library, but it is especially true as they usher in the new year. With the kickstart to 2026, there also comes the “Flurries of Fun” reading challenge. Librarian Liane Welte and her staff are thrilled to be organizing this 8-week program. They have been promoting it since the fall and are working hard to engage bookworms.

Mayor Pro Tem Ju‑lie Burhoop called the special meeting to order at 4 p.m., with Commissioners Lynn Hoffman and Jessica Strain in at‑tendance. Mayor Chris Bogenrief and Commis‑sioner Vincent Tucker were absent. City Ad‑ministrator Jeff Dooley, Finance Officer Amy Lilly and City Attorney Sarah Kle‑ber also attended.

Dakota State University student Sydney Bousquet is student teaching fifth grade for the spring semester in the Elk Point Jefferson School District. Bousquet is an elementary education and major from Elk Point, South Dakota.
