City approves MOU with Dakota Dunes

In the last meeting of the year, the North Sioux City City Council had various resolutions to make sure all the budgets have a positive cash balance at year end. The fund balances may have fluctuated throughout the year due to unforeseen revenues or expenses. On Dec. 18, the board approved multiple resolutions to fix the year-end appropriations.

New subscription rates for 2024

Subscribers to the Dakota Dunes/North Sioux City Times will see an increase to their subscription renewals come Jan. 1, 2024.

Elections held for 2024 DVHS Student Council

The Dakota Valley student council held their 2024 election for class representatives during the week of Dec. 11, 2023. An executive board was also decided. This board consists of current juniors and was determined through an interview process with High School Principal Erik Sommervold, Assistant High School Principal Jeff Hamm, Student Council Advisor James Schmit and 2023 student council member Nick Hanson. Veterans honored with Christmas wreaths

The North Sioux City Two Rivers American Legion Post 319 members honored veterans buried at the McCook Cemetery and Civil Bend Cemetery Saturday, Dec. 16. The legion members did this by placing approximately 110 Christmas wreaths at gravesites.

Courthouse closed for holiday, commission meeting moved

Just shy of two hours, the Union County Board of County Commissioners met in regular session Dec. 12. Toward the beginning of the meeting, the commissioners approved closing the courthouse on Dec. 25 and 26 which follows the state government closure. They then moved the commission meeting to Wednesday, Dec. 27 at 8:30 a.m.
