Human Trafficking presentation

A Human Trafficking presentation will take place at North Sioux City City Hall Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. The presentation will be led by Outreach Coordinator Bernadette Rixner with the Siouxland Coalition Against Human Trafficking (SCAHT).

Coaches of the Year announced

The South Dakota High School Coaches Association announced the Coach of the Year Awards for the Fall of 2022.

In Cheer, Cami Bacon of St. Mary’s High School was named Coach of the Year.

Dance Coach of the Year is Lynsey Andal of Beresford High School. Carey Baczwaski of Dakota Valley received nominations.

Mark Anderson of Tea Area High School was named the Girls’ Soccer Coach of the Year and Jeff Fierro of Rapid City Stevens High School Boys’ Soccer Coach of the Year.

A dedication to education

People would be hardpressed to find someone more dedicated to teaching the youth in Elk Point and Jefferson than Rita Ahmann. Ahmann has been a math teacher in the Elk Point-Jefferson school district for 45 years.

Donate in honor of a staff member

The Elk Point-Jefferson School District is blessed to have longtime staff who are passionate about their jobs and the lives they touch. In order to honor these dedicated educators, the Elk Point-Jefferson Educational Foundation is hosting an “honor a staff member” fundraiser.

Buchholtz serves as president of Health Freedom SD

Stacia Buchholtz, an Elk Point native, believes in medical freedoms and the right to be educated about any and all medical situations for people and their children. Through this belief, Buchholtz got involved in Health Freedom South Dakota.
