A middle-of-the-night electrical fire swept through a portion of a North Sioux City motel early Friday morning, forcing dozens of sleeping guests to flee into the parking lot.

The emergency began at approximately 12:45 a.m. on July 3, when a structure fire was reported at the Super 8 Motel, located at 108 Sodrac Drive just off Interstate 29.
