• A welcome sign of spring is South Dakota’s state flower, the American Pasque. The state adopted it as the state flower in 1903. The blooming period for the Pasque is April to May and lasts about two weeks. The flowers can begin their growing period while snow is still on the ground. It grows wild throughout the state.
