EPJ Husky boys drop one away, win one at home

Two close games greeted the Elk Point-Jefferson boys basketball team on January 14 and January 16, 2025. It was a split on wins and losses, as the away game against Wagner resulted in defeat by just 1 point. However, a home court advantage later in the week boosted EPJ to a victory against Ponca, Nebraska.

Triple victories for the Elk Point-Jefferson lady huskies

A trio of games meant triple the victories for the Elk Point-Jefferson girls basketball team in mid-January. A hectic schedule did not damper the play of the Huskies, as they came away with huge wins versus Wagner, Ponca and Aberdeen Roncalli.

Excellent wrestling and tough competition were both on display for the Huskies on Thursday, January 16, 2025. The squad was in Lennox to battle it out on the mat against the Orioles and the Vermillion Tanagers.

Northshore Drive re-opened

Big news in the community closed out 2024 as North Sioux City reopened Northshore Drive on December 31, 2024. The road had been closed to public traffic for months due to the June floods and subsequent damages.

A nice crowd gathered at The Pointe Golf & Event Center on Monday, January 6, 2025 to view a screening of “Greetings from Elk Point” courtesy of South Dakota Public Broadcasting (SDPB). The event was free to the public and conducted in order to show a rough cut of the episode and get public feedback.

The Panthers girls basketball team versed the Warriors of Sergeant Bluff-Luton (SBL) on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. It was a home contest for Dakota Valley and they started strong with senior Cameryn Sommervold winning the jump and later scoring the team’s first 2 points.
