Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies go 1-1 to start season

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies opened their baseball season in Scotland April 10. They were pitted against the Scotland/Menno Trappers and walked away with a victory.

Girls golf open season

The Huskies Girls Golf team opened their season on April 11 at the Bridges Golf Course in Beresford. They battled against 6 schools – Sioux Falls Christian, Dakota Valley, Lennox, Beresford and Flandreau.

Huskies lose close contest

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies took on the Alcester-Hudson Cubs April 10 and almost pulled off a win, losing 7-6. According to head coach Jessie Stouffer, it was the 7th inning when the Huskies lost the game.

Huskies earn 30 medals at Canton Relays

The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies’ Track travelled north to Canton to participate in the Canton Relays on Monday, April 17. After the Sioux City Relays being cancelled on April 15 due to inclement weather, the Huskies were ready to run, jump and throw.

EPJ students tour ThermoBond

On Friday, April 14, ThermoBond had the pleasure of providing Elk-Point Jefferson’s Intro To Tech students with a tour of their plant. “Intro to Tech is a class that explores different ways that technology is integrated into our everyday lives,” Heath VanRoekel, Production Manager said.

JBS to host Food Truck Battle Royale

Jefferson Beer Supply, local Siouxland brewery, will be hosting a spring showdown between four area food trucks on April 22 from 1 to 6 p.m. Each truck will offer a food special and the winner will be selected by hungry diners in a popular vote. The winner will walk away with a title belt designed and crafted by local artist Amy Anderson.

Union County properties equalized

The Union County Board of County Commissioners equalized property throughout Union County, including properties which were contested from the county’s municipalities. The commissioners held a special meeting April 11 to convene as the Board of Equalization.

Elk Point-Jefferson election results, building updates

The Elk Point-Jefferson School Board will continue to be represented by Sabrina Sayler and Noelle Jacobs. An election was held on April 11 with three candidates vying for two open positions on the school board. Incumbents Sayler and Jacobs were challenged by Dennis Stabe. The votes were Jacobs 129; Sayler 144; and Stabe 81.
