Kassin to seek re-election to House
Representative Chris Kassin has announced that he will seek re-election in 2024 to the South Dakota State House of Representatives from District 17. Kassin was elected to his first term in the State House in November 2022.
Catholic Churches serve Friends Feast
The St. Joseph Catholic Church group served the Nov. 13 Friends Feast. Friends Feast is held monthly at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elk Point. It’s open to everyone. Zoning change withdrawn at council meeting
Over 20 people attended the Elk Point City Council meeting, either in favor or against a zoning change that would take a property out of general business into multi-family district. The property in question is an empty lot at 801 East Main Street in between North Wood Street and North Green Street owned by Larry Brady (East River Properties, LLC) in Vermillion.
Dakota Valley Panthers place in Mitchell debate
The Panther high school debate team was in Mitchell, SD on Nov. 17 and 18 to compete in the 31st annual Mc-Govern Speech and Debate Tournament. Four Dakota Valley students participated in individual events on Friday and 14 Panthers debated on Saturday for the team.

Wendling named Cross Country Coach of the Year
Dakota Valley Head Coach Tiffany Wendling was named a 2023 Coach of the Year by the South Dakota Cross Country and Track and Field Coaches Association (SDCCTFCA). Wendling received this Class A award for the part of the state designated as Area 2/East.
