JBS to host Food Truck Battle Royale

Jefferson Beer Supply, local Siouxland craft brewery, will host a Food Truck Off-Menu Battle Royale April 27. Four of Siouxland’s favorite food trucks will go head-tohead, each featuring an “off-menu” special available only on the day of the event. Diners will vote for their favorite dish, and the winning truck walks away as the “Food Truck Battle Royale Champion” and custom championship…

All-Conference basketball honors

Members of the Elk Point-Jefferson Girls and Boys Basketball teams were named to the DAK-XII All-Conference teams. From the girls basketball team, sophomore Cera Schmitz was named to the 2nd team and juniors Bentlee Kollbaum and Kaitlyn Van Roekel were named to 3rd team.

Esports has been surging in popularity over the past decade – the streaming audience is expected to hit 1.4 billion in 2025, and several South Dakota colleges have established Esports programs.

Panthers advance into state tournament

The Panthers battled McLaughlin in SODAK 16 region play at the Corn Palace on Tuesday, March 5. There are over 400 miles between Dakota Valley and the Mustangs of McLaughlin, who are not far from the North Dakota border. Both teams traveled to Mitchell for the chance to advance to the state tournament at a neutral location.

Dakota Valley holds Donuts with Grown-ups

The first ever “Donuts with Grown-ups” event was held on Thursday, March 7 at the Dakota Valley Elementary School. It was highly attended with a line out the door and many tables filled with students and adults sharing breakfast together prior to the start of the school day.

Bike path removed in preparation of construction

Recently, a portion of a bike path near The Pointe Golf Course was removed by the City of Elk Point. The bike path was originally constructed in 2018.

Youth wrestlers advance to SDWCA state tournament

The 2024 South Dakota Wrestling Coaches Association (SDWCA) Region 5 contest was held on Saturday, March 9. Eighteen Panther youth wrestlers qualified for regionals this season which took place in Hartford at West Central High School.

Dakota Valley Panthers shoot for a three-peat

Once again the Panther boys basketball team has qualified for the state tournament after an incredible year and strong performance in the postseason. The 2024 Class A State Boys Basketball Tournament takes place on March 14-16 in Rapid City at the Monument’s Summit Arena.
