The Elk Point-Jefferson Legion baseball team competed in various games throughout June. The first half of June was previously published. Here are highlights from the last half of June: June 19 Tea 5, EPJ 4 at Tea Ben Swatek and Evan Hailey each had 2 of the Huskies 8 hits.

Athletes and teams representing 466 high schools from across the nation participated at the 2023 USA High School Clay Target League National Championship July 5-10, 2023. The USAHSCTL National Championship, which was held at the Michigan Trapshooting Association in Mason, MI, featured team and individual competition to award the top ten male and female high school athletes and top five high school teams in the country.

The Panthers won big in legion baseball versus Baltic Post 175 on Wednesday, July 12. Hits were aplenty as Dakota Valley sailed to an 18-1 win.

The MVP 16 Red squad did it again with a 2-peat National Championship. The 2023 USA Volleyball Junior National Volleyball Championships concluded this week at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago, Illinois. This was MVP United Volleyball Club’s first USA Volleyball National Title. Previous National Championships earned by the club were at the AAU Volleyball Championships in Orlando, FL.

The Dakota Valley High School softball team had a team banquet on Wednesday, July 12 in Wynstone to celebrate their successful season. Participation awards and varsity letters were handed out to the players, as well as a few individual honors. Emma Wiese was recognized as Most Valuable Pitcher and Mia Riibe earned Most Valuable Defensive Player. Logan Miller was the MVP and Most Valuable Offensive Player, while Madelyn Munch was named Most Improved Player for the 2023 season.

Members of the Dakota Valley Baseball team were recently named to the Class B All-State 1st Team. They included Isaac Bruns, Jake Pruchniak and Jaxon Hennies..

A stretch of games surrounded the 4th of July holiday for the Dakota Valley Legion team as the roster ended June and jumped right into July match-ups. A 7-1 victory versus the Tea TinCaps got the string of games started for the Panthers on June 30.

On Wednesday, June 28th youth participants in the summer PGA Junior golf league at Two Rivers Golf Course competed in a league championship day. The Warriors took home 1st place honors and the Tigers were runner-ups.
