Elk Point-Jefferson Spring sports meeting recap

Huskies involved in spring sports gathered on Monday, March 10, 2025 in the Elk Point-Jefferson high school gym for the “Spring Kickoff” meeting. Athletes planning to participate in girls golf, high school softball and/or track and field were in attendance for the event that began at 6:30 pm.

Dakota Valley girls beat West Central, head to state

The SODAK 16 game for the Panther girls basketball team happened on March 6, 2025 at the neutral site of Tea, South Dakota. They were up against a strong squad from West Central (WC) with a chance to play in the 2025 state tournament on the line.

Panthers have strong start against tough Chargers

After rescheduling due to weather, the Panther boys basketball team hosted the Watchdogs of Beresford for the 1st round of regionals on March 6, 2025. It was 11-12 with 3:40 to go in the 1st quarter. Offense went backand- forth between Dakota Valley and their opponent. Then a deep 3 by Logan Collette tied things at 14 all.

Huskies fought hard against tough Tanagers

The Huskies struck first in their regional game versus the Tanagers on March 6, 2025. Elk Point-Jefferson was in Vermillion for the boys basketball match-up. Strong defense and a Husky hoop was prevalent in the 1st minute of play.

Dakota Valley State Wrestling

Two Panthers wrestled at the 2025 Class A state individual tournament in Rapid City, South Dakota on February 27-March 1, 2025. They were juniors Braedy Sievers and Bennett Lukken. Both had strong regular seasons to punch their state tickets.

Dakota Valley plays tough competition on senior night

The Panther boys won the jump ball versus Lennox on Friday, February 28, 2025. They made good use of the possession when Tyler Cornelsen put it up for a hoop. A few transitions later, Logan Collette took a charge on defense. Both squads were working hard as Luke Bruns sank a jumper. It was 4-4 on Dakota Valley’s home court for senior night.

Metros win MHSHLTournament ChampTitle

Dakota Valley Junior Noah Graham said it well when he said, “Playoff hockey is always high-intensity and we are prepared to compete at a high level. We understand that everyone at the tournament is capable of making it far”. This year was no exception. The Sioux City Metros would have to defeat Lincoln and Waterloo to advance to the Midwest High School Hockey League (MHSHL) Championship Tournament Game on March 1st.

The early moments of regional postseason play had the #2 Panthers girls basketball team trading points with Beresford. Dakota Valley was the host, and it was 9-9 until DV went on a run to be up 17-10 with 3 minutes left in the 1st.

Elk Point-Jefferson wrestlers battle hard in Rapid

The Huskies were in Rapid City on February 27-March 1, 2025 for South Dakota’s individual state wrestling tournament. Six grapplers from Elk Point-Jefferson faced off on the mat against the toughest high school competitors in Class B. All showed strength and grit with Luke Swatek bringing home a state medal.

Lady Huskies handed tough loss in regionals

Regionals started for the Elk Point-Jefferson girls basketball team on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. The Huskies were the #4 seed in a highly competitive region, and they were to take on #5 Lennox. A battle was guaranteed as both teams came into the contest with strong regular season records.
