The Elk Point-Jefferson wrestlers travelled to Tri-Valley’s Invite Jan. 14 and came home with some individual place winners.

DV Panthers defeat Trojans in two contests

In a game that was too close for comfort for many Panther fans, the Dakota Valley boys basketball team remained undefeated after edging out the West Central Trojans 55-50 in Hartford, SD. West Central came ready to play and were tough on defense versus Dakota Valley (DV).

Panthers lose two games on the road

A tough away game faced the Dakota Valley girls basketball team on Tuesday, Jan. 10 as they travelled to take on the West Central Trojans. It was a physical and fierce game that had the Panthers falling 44-57.

DV hosts quadrangular

Dakota Valley hosted a wrestling quad dual Tuesday, Jan. 10 and saw a lot of success from the team. The Panthers went up against West Central and Tri-Valley. Elk-Point Jefferson was also on-hand, as they are travel partners with Dakota Valley for wrestling duals, but the two rosters did not face off at this particular meet.

Boonstra earns 100th Career Win

Sophomore Jackson Boonstra is having an incredible wrestling year for Dakota Valley. In addition to many pins, wins and technical falls already this season, Boonstra achieved the impressive stat of garnering his 100th career victory on the mat.

Girls grapple in Iowa

The Dakota Valley girls varsity wrestlers ventured into Iowa territory on Monday, Jan. 9 for the West Sioux Invite in Hawarden. All wrestled hard and showed grit to bring home hardware from the competitive tournament.

DAKOTA VALLEY PANTHER YOUTH WRESTLING

Approximately 230 youth wrestlers, from 47 different schools, descended on Dakota Valley this past Saturday, Jan. 14 for the Panther Wrestling club’s annual tournament in North Sioux City. Incredible talent on the mat was observed in children ages preschool to 6th grade.

Panther stealthiness leads to wins

In their closest contest this season, the Dakota Valley boys basketball team crossed the state line into Le Mars and came away with a 60-55 victory versus an Iowa Class 3A school. The Panthers won the tip and scored first.

Slow and steady wins the game

What could be called the slowest contest in this year’s basketball season, the Huskies got their act together after halftime to win against Alcester-Hudson 55-24. To start the game, the Huskies held the Cubs to 4 points while only putting up 10 of their own.

Huskies place 2nd in tournament

The Elk Point-Jefferson wrestlers participated in the Jesse James Invitational in Garretson, SD Jan. 7 and was 1.5 points away from bringing home the gold. Tri-Valley took 1st with 181.5 points and the Huskies brought home the silver with 180. There were 12 teams that participated.
