Golf program receives donation

Elk Point-Jefferson Boys Golf Head Coach Kelly Haberling recently accepted a donation to help benefit the golf program. The Scheels Give Back program is a way to give back to their communities and to those in need.

Fire Department Open House

The Elk Point Fire Department held an Open House Wednesday, Oct. 11 as a way to celebrate Fire Prevention Week. The community was invited to tour the fire station, fire trucks and have a meal with the volunteer firefighters.

Class of 1963 holds 60th reunion

The Elk Point High School class of 1963 held it’s 60th class reunion the evenings of Oct. 6 and 7.

EPJ Board discusses school safety

The Elk Point-Jefferson School District held their regular school board meeting on Oct. 11 and held discussion on school safety. The discussions revolved around SRP (Standard Response Procedures), cameras, noise/ voice/vaping alerts, all calls and handbooks.

Dakota Valley monthly Administrative Reports

The Dakota Valley administrators gave their monthly reports to the school board on Oct. 9. Kristi Maloney • Elementary Principal Sixty-six students were named Maloney’s October MVPs. (Pictures ran in last week’s edition). The MVPs celebrated with cookies.

NNA calls proposed new postal rates “punitive”

The proposed Jan. 21, 2024, postage increase for community newspapers is nearly four times the rate increase proposed for other users of the mail. In an announcement last Friday, the United States Postal Service announced it expected a 7.3 percent increase for the local Within County mailing rate for newspapers.
