NHS hosts Soles4Souls

The Elk Point-Jefferson National Honor Society started the Soles4Souls project in 2010. “Michelle Corio was a senior that year,” Rita Ahmann said.

Saving every life, one animal at a time

The Siouxland Humane Society (SHS) has received national recognition from the Best Friends Animal Society. A plaque was awarded for achieving a save rate of over 90 percent for year 2022, naming the SHS a no-kill shelter.

Southeast Farmers donates

Recently, Southeast Farmers Coop donated $5,000 to the Union County Food Pantry. The money came from a matching funds opportunity through Co-Bank. Southeast Farmers can submit four applications a year for up to $2,500 and then match the funds when they receive the approval.

Jefferson Trunk or Treat fundraiser

A fundraising event for park equipment for Tower Park in Jefferson will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the park. Events include a trunk or treat from 1 to 4 p.m., zombie walk at 4 p.m., a pork and chili feed, zombie face painting and pumpkin painting.

Trick or Treat times - Elk Point/Jefferson

With Halloween approaching, it’s nice to know where children can participate for trick or treating throughout town. In Jefferson, trick or treating will be from 6 to 8 p.m.

County presented with petition

On Oct. 17, Trinette LaFleur with Dunes Budz presented the Union County Board of County Commissioners with a petition to revoke another entities’ medical cannabis license.

Elk Point-Jefferson School Board hears administrative reports

The Elk Point-Jefferson School Board heard reports from the school administrators at their Oct. 11 meeting. The first report was from Technology Director Myles Larson who informed the board that there is a new look to Infinite Campus on the teacher/ staff side. The parent and student side of Campus should remain the same.
