DVXC earns medals, team honors at fall meets

The Panthers competed well at The Pointe Golf Course on Monday, September 29, 2025. The varsity girls team brought home 3rd place overall and the boys varsity roster claimed 4th. Individually it was sophomore Jamison Gould securing a gold medal for Dakota Valley (DV) with his impressive 5K time of 16:53.01.

County approves budget boost, jail meals and levee talks

The Union County Board of Commissioners met in regular session Sept. 30 at the courthouse in Elk Point, addressing a full agenda that included infrastructure improvements, public safety upgrades, planning and zoning developments, and budget actions.

Dunes board advances projects, trims speed limit

NSC/DV Rec Complex awarded $10K Twins grant

The North Sioux City Dakota Valley Rec Complex is thrilled to announce that it has received a generous $10,000 grant from the Minnesota Twins Community Fund, the charitable arm of the Minnesota Twins Major League Baseball organization. This funding will directly support recovery efforts from the flooding that occurred in June 2024.

DV raises levy, adopts budget

A special morning board meeting was held by the Dakota Valley (DV) school board on September 29, 2025. Attending the meeting were Jesica Hanson, Steve Kistner, Andrew Nilges, Emily Norby, Matt Thompson, Superintendent Garrett Schmidt and Business Manager Jill Sponder. The special session began at 8 am.

Huskies push Wagner to four, come up short

The Huskies traveled over 90 miles on Thursday, October 2, 2025 for their volleyball match versus the Red Raiders of Wagner. It was a tough one that Elk Point-Jefferson took to 4 sets in competitive play. Unfortunately they did not get the win, but the grit on the court was admirable.

Huskies shine on home turf, push pace at Lennox

Cross country is not a sport for the meek and Elk Point-Jefferson showed their strength and endurance on the running paths to end September and start October. The start of autumn has been warmer than usual, but that has not slowed down any of the Huskies. On Monday, September 29, 2025 it was the team’s home meet at The Pointe and EPJ represented well.

Akin qualifies for state, Elk Point-Jefferson finishes 8th

On Monday (September 29, 2025), the EPJ boys’ golf team opened postseason play at the Bluffs in Vermillion. The regional tournament carries a pressure unlike any other—some even say it’s more intense than the state meet itself.

Huskies crush Red Raiders, stay atop 11B

The top of the leader board for 11B football, in South Dakota, is where the Huskies will stay after defeating Wagner on Friday, October 3, 2025. It was a huge win for Elk Point-Jefferson, on homecoming night, as they did not allow the Red Raiders to score at all on their way to 48-0 victory.
