The EPJ baseball team ended the regular season on a high note, beating Vermillion 5-2 in a home game May 10.
Both teams ended with 9 hits, but the Huskies used theirs to score runs while Vermillion left 10 runners on base. EPJ scored 2 runs in the 2nd and 3 in the 5th.
Not only did EPJ get on base, they used their speed to move around into scoring position, with 13 stolen bases. Noah Larson, Noah McDermott and Jake Gale all swiped 3.
Ben Swatek got the win, going 5 innings. He held the Tanagers to 1 run while striking out 4. Skyler Swatek pitched an inning in relief. Conner Wendel closed out the game, going 2 innings. He threw 17 pitches, 14 of them strikes.
EPJ played error-free ball to help stymie the usually powerful Vermillion bats.
The Huskies move on to region playoffs May 24, at a yet-to-be-determined time and place.
