EPJ travelled to Tea Area for round 2 of region playoffs Nov. 5. The Huskies faced a seasoned Titan team, a big change from Beresford. Tea Area won the match, and the SoDak 16 berth 25-22, 25-15, 25-22.

Both teams started off tentative, with a lot of serve and hitting errors. The Titans built a 12-6 lead, only to see EPJ storm back to tie it at 13-all. Tea Area pulled ahead and even some strong serves from Nicole Wriedt couldn’t save the game for EPJ.

Game 2 was back and forth before the Titan hitters started finding holes in the Husky defense. They built a big lead and held it to win the game.

With nothing to lose, the Huskies came out in game 3 and took an 8-2 lead off tips and junk shots. Tea Area came back to tie the game at 10 and the lead went back and forth until the Titan setter went back to serve. EPJ’s passing derailed and she reeled off 8 straight points. The Huskies did not give up, and fought back to within 2, 19-21. It was too little, too late, though, as Tea Area took the game and the match.

MacKenzie Stone again led the team with her 6 kills. Addison Stabe had 8 set assists and 3 aces. Alyssa Chytka had 16 digs and Natalie Heuertz 2 blocks.

EPJ finishes the year 9-12.

SoDak 16 teams were scheduled to play Tuesday, Nov. 10. The top 8 teams advanced to the State A Tournament Nov. 19-21 in Watertown.
