The volleyball team got its first win of the young season on the road at Dell Rapids Sept. 1. They won 26-24, 23-25, 25-17, 25-21.

The match started off slowly, with both teams feeling each other out. The Quarriers used a strong block to take a 6-point lead, forcing EPJ head coach Erin Ellinger to call a time-out. The Huskies sided out on the next point and Sophia Giorgio went back to serve. She put a lot of pressure on the Dells passers and the Huskies took the lead back, 12-11. The teams traded points, with neither ahead by more than 2. Dells was actually serving for the game, but sent it long. A smart roll shot from MacKenzie Stone gave EPJ a 25-24 lead, and they won the game 26-24.

Dells built another good lead in the second game, and this time, the Huskies couldn’t respond. A series of EPJ hitting errors let the Quarriers win that game.
