A nail-biter. That would be the way to describe the ending of Dakota Valley’s match against Canton Dec. 18 which ended 56-52 favoring the Panthers.

Head coach Tammy Lilly said the Panther press helped disrupt Canton’s play and they were able to get ahead early on.

Three Panthers scored in double digits: Rylee Rosenquist 15, Grace Bass 12 and Rachel Rosenquist 11.

Defensively, the girls intercepted Canton’s play 25 times with 8 steals coming from Rylee Rosenquist, 6 from Bass and 5 from Peyton Tritz.

“We got off to a good start early, getting up 16-8 in the first quarter,” Lilly said. “Our press bothered Canton early. We were able to come out after half time and play aggressive on both ends of the floor, outscoring Canton 20-8 that quarter. Canton hit 4 3’s in the fourth quarter.”

Scores from Dakota Valley vs. Hartington Ceder Catholic were not available by presstime. Their first game of 2021 is at home Jan. 2 at 4:30 p.m. against Viborg-Hurley.
