The boys track and field team travelled to Mt. Vernon for the Greenway Relays Friday, April 23. The boys team brought home 2nd place, based on strong showings in the throws and jumps.

Tyler Goehring had 3 first place finishes, in the 200 meters, 300 meter hurdles and triple jump. He came in 2nd in the long jump, falling just 4” short of 1st place.

The boys packed in the points in 2 events where they placed 3 athletes in the top 10. In addition to Goehring’s 1st, Garrett Merkley was 6th in the triple jump, Devon Schmitz 7th. Jacob Lichtenberg took 4th in the discus, Tyler LaFleur 8th, along with Drake’s Peed’s win.

Peed was a double-winner in the shot and discus. He set a new school record in the shot with a put of 58’4”.

Four girls broke their personal best records – Alyssa Chytka and Carly Welch in the 100, Josie Curry in the 400 and Patty Garvin in the shots. They were led by Chytka with 2 3rd-place finishes – the 100 meter and 200 meters.

The teams competed at Dakota Valley Tuesday, April 27 and then go to the Howard Wood Relays Friday and Saturday, April 29-30 in Sioux Falls. They also compete at the Beresford Invite Tuesday, May 4.
