The bats were hot for both teams, but not a lot of runs were scored when EPJ played at Vermillion April 22. The Huskies scored all their runs in the second inning, then held on for a 3-2 win.

Andrew Nearman started the inning with a solid single to right. Cade Fennel’s single moved Nearman to 3rd. He was thrown out at home after Ty Trometer made it to first on a fielder’s choice. Jake Gale’s double scored Fennel and moved Trometer to third. Skyler Swatek’s double scored them both to give EPJ a 3-0 lead.

Swatek started on the mound for the Huskies and pitched 4 2/3 innings, striking out 3 for the win. He led the team with 3 hits.

Tyler Goehring came on in relief for 2 1/3 innings with 2 strikeouts.

The Huskies are now 6-1 on the season.

They host Dakota Valley Thursday, April 29 and Wagner Friday, May 7.
