Dakota Valley opened volleyball Region 4A play against Vermillion, Nov. 2. The Panthers rolled the Tanagers in 3 games, winning 25-9, 25-16, 25-15.
Jorja VanDenHul led the team with 11 kills and 5 aces. Logan Miller racked up stats in every category – 31 assists, 4 aces, 3 digs, a block and a kill.
“The Vermillion game was a solid win for us,” head coach Mary Miller said. “We did a great job of serving and staying in system.”
Dakota Valley kept their successes moving forward, playing Parker Nov. 4. They won in 3 games – 25-19, 25-20, 25-13.
The Panthers had a great night, with many players hitting double digit stats. VanDenHul had 17 kills, followed by Sophie Tuttle with 11 kills and 12 digs. Kate VanRooyan led the team with digs at 15 and 2 aces. Sammi Archer and Reagan VanRooyan contributed 12 digs apiece, as well.
“Parker was a great match for us,” Miller said. “They had three 6-foot players which gave our defense a test. We did a nice job of staying in system and digging balls off the net to keep them away from their hitters. Our offense looked the best this year. Logan did a great job of distributing the ball to all five hitters.
“I was very happy how we maintained our composure for two close sets,” she said.
Dakota Valley travelled to Beresford Tuesday, Nov. 9 to play sin the SoDak16 against Lakota Tech.
