The Dakota Valley boys hosted Tea Area Dec. 20 in a rescheduled game from Dec. 10. The Panthers defeated the Titans 72-61.
Randy Rosenquist had an all-around outstanding game, putting up 18 points, pulling down 6 rebounds, stealing the ball 4 times and getting 4 assists.
Isaac Bruns led the team in points with 30. He also had 5 rebounds and 2 assists, steals and blocked shots.
Jaxson Wingert had 18 points, 10 from the paint and 6 outside the arc. He also pulled a double-double with 10 boards.
The team shot 55.6 percent from the 2-point range, 35.3 percent from beyond the arc and 70 percent from the charity stripe.
“We have developed quite a rivalry with [Tea] Area, so this was a great win for our kids,” head coach Jason Kleis said. “Again, I really thought our whole team contributed in different ways to the win. Isaac Bruns, Randy Rosenquist and Jaxson Wingert really provided some scoring punch, while Sam Faldmo, Joey Bryan, Brayden Major and several other did so many other little things to help us win the game.
“It’s always nice to go into the holiday break on a high note,” Kleis said. “Now we’re hoping they don’t get out of shape and we can carry this momentum into the new year!”
Coming up for the boys was the Parkston Classic Tuesday, Dec. 28 when they played Platte-Geddes. They play at Sergeant Bluff-Luton Tuesday, Jan. 4 in a double-header with the girls.
