Drake Peed placed 3rd in both the discus and shot at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays April 30 and May 1 in Sioux Falls. He threw 162’9” in the discus and 53’11.75” in the shot. Both were open events for all classes.

Cooper Mack, a Baylor recruit from Watertown, won both events. His father was the state discus champion in 1987, also from Watertown.

Tyler Goehring was 3rd in the open triple jump with a distance of 43’3.25”. The winner from Milbank went 45’6.8”. Second place went to a jumper from Bismarck, ND Legacy High School at 43’7.75”. Goehring finished 14th in the long jump.

The girls 4x800 team of Claire LaFerrier, Ella LaFerrier, Hannah Nearman and Josie Curry was 12th with a time of 10:48.94. The boys 4x200 team was 13th. Riley Schmitz, Ben Hanson, Garrett Merkley and Goehring had a time of 1:36.82.

The boys entered another team in the 4x800; Alex Scarmon, Lucas Hueser, Kayden Moore and Hunter Geary were 18th in 9:39.75.

Alyssa Chytka was 25th in the open 100 and Riley Schmitz 48th in the open 100. Both races included runners from Class B, A and AA, from both North and South Dakota and Iowa.

The teams competed at the Beresford Invite Tuesday, May 4 and the Yankton First Dakota Relays Thursday, May 6. Their conference meet is Thursday, May 13 in Dell Rapids.
