Paul Bruns made it official Thursday, Nov. 12 as he signed his national letter of intent. Bruns will head to the University of North Dakota to play basketball for the Fighting Hawks. He made his commitment public in April. The Times first reported on it in the April 23, 2020 issue.

UND Head coach Paul Sather had these comments about Bruns.

Bruns signs for basketball

Paul Bruns (front middle) signed with UND Nov. 12. Watching him sign were, from left front, his father Paul Bruns, Sr. and mother, Jamie Bruns, and back, DV assistant coach Brian Uhl, DV head coach Jason Kleis and DV assistant coaches Ben Blaeser and Brody VanGinkel.

“Paul is a tought-minded, competitive guard that brings a lot of versatility to the floor,” Sather said. “He can score beyond the arc and finish through contact around the rim. He’s a winner on the court, in the classroom and is a perfect fit for UND. He’s a three-sport athlete that excels in everything he does, and we’re so excited about the impact he can have in our program.”

Bruns was one of two signees for North Dakota.

The other was 6’11” Gavin McGroth of Onalaska, WI, near LaCrosse.

North Dakota plays in the Division I Summit League which includes SDSU and USD. The conference tournament is played in Sioux Falls. UND finished second at the last tournament.
