The South Dakota High School Activities Association Board was meeting Tuesday evening, April 21 to consider a number of proposals as the Times went to press.
In Class A, teams at state will compete in two of four dance styles. The two scores will be averaged to determine the state champion. During the season, teams may compete in three. This is to cut down on costs for choreography, uniforms, etc.
Adopt a five class system.
• Class 11AA – Nine largest schools plus Sioux Falls O’Gorman.
• Class 11A – Next 16 largest schools by male-only ADM. Dakota Valley would be in this class. Eight teams make post-season.
• Class B – Remaining schools, male-only Average Daily Membership of 56.001 or greater.
• 9-man, two classes – Present Class A. Athletic directors voted 7-7, staff recommends passage.
