The girls basketball team used a combination of precise 3-point shooting and a stifling defense to win the opening round of region play 62-49 over the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies at home March 2.

Three Panthers scored in double digits – Rylee Rosenquist with 25, Grace Bass 14 and Jorja VanDenHul 12. VanDenHul and Rosenquist had 6 rebounds. Rosenquist led the team with 6 assists and she and Bass had 4 steals each.

Many of those steals came in the 1st quarter, when DV built a 10-point lead by breaking up the Husky passing lanes. Even when they didn’t take away the ball, they kept EPJ’s out of rhythm, both on offense and defense. The Huskies had 6 fouls in the 1st quarter alone.
