The Dakota Valley soccer team’s first appearance in post season play came up short. They lost to Sioux Falls Christian 1-0 Tuesday, Oct. 6 on the road.
During the regular season, the teams had played to a 0-0 tie Aug. 25; SFC won 2-0 Sept. 19 on their home field.
Ivey Winckler had three saves.
Dakota Valley finishes the season at 5-5-3.
Sioux Falls Christian advanced to play number 1 seed West Central.
In other post season play, Vermillion overcame a 0-1 deficit to defeat Rapid City St. Thomas More 2-1 in Vermillion. The Tanagers advanced to play Tea.
While West Central is the number 1 seed, Dakota Valley tied them 0-0 at home and defeated them 1-0 on the road Sept. 15. The Panthers also beat Vermillion 2-1 on Oct. 1 and were edged by Tea 2-1 on Sept. 29.
In the state semifinals, scores were West Central 2-Sioux Falls Christian 0; and Tea Area 4-Vermillion 2. West Central will face Tea Area for the championship Oct. 17.
