The Dakota Valley Trap Team

The Dakota Valley Trap Team sent many of its student athletes to state, including, from front left, coach Dave Miller, Claire Wiebelhaus, Ben Mathison, Garret Hanson, Andrew Derochie, Jake Posson and coach Dan Lederman; middle, coach Tyson Herbold, Boston Beach, Garret Wiebelhaus, Jareb Hamm, Cameron Black, Linken Johnson, Jamison Kimbell, Sam Chartier, Titus Chartier and coach Dan Kriese; and back, Nick Hanson, Kale Kriese, Gavin Welch, Evan Van Scoyk, Preston Carlson, Evan Carlson and coach Chad Van Scoyk.

Dakota Valley qualified 19 athletes for the 2021 State Trap tournament June 12 and 13. DV took second place in Junior Varsity division and had several students place in Novice and Varsity divisions. Top scorer for the team was Kale Kriese, who shot 90 out of 100 targets. Kriese earned All State honors for the Spring Season with his 21.4 out of 25 score average.

“I speak for all the coaches when I say we are extremely proud of the student athletes, parents and sponsors who continue to make Dakota Valley Trap Team a great program,” coach Dan Lederman said. “We have a young team that ranges from 6th to 11th graders. We did not have any seniors participating this year and our 6-8th grade athletes make up the bulk of the team. With the talent we have in our Junior Varsity team, we foresee some great competitors developing in the next couple of years.”
