“Blake [Schmiedt] was coming in hot,” head coach Tiffany Wendling said. “I have never seen such a large smile and such excitement at a finish. He was determined to bring in his best time and make the leader board for Dakota Valley’s (short) 5K.”
Schmiedt, a junior, took first place on their home course at Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve Sept. 1. He was a full 44 seconds ahead of the second-place runner, Ryan Campbell from East High, finishing with a time of 16:02.33.
