The girls basketball team ran into the buzzsaw that is Region 4 #1-ranked Lennox at Lennox Feb. 4. Other than the 1st quarter, though, the girls hung right with the Orioles, losing only 41-55.

That 1st quarter saw Lennox build a 19-8 lead, pretty close to the final margin. EPJ scored the 1st basket of the game, then went cold until the 2nd quarter. The Huskies had a hard time with the Oriole press, turning the ball over 23 times.

Lily Kempf led the Huskies with 13 points, 3 assists and 4 steals. Riley Donnelly had 5 rebounds and 3 assists. While the girls were hitting their free throws at 60 percent, their shooting woes continued from the floor, just over 30 percent overall.

Lennox’s Madysen Vlastuin scored 30 points and became the all-time scoring leader for Lennox girls.

Feb. 6 was a rivalry game in North Sioux City against the Dakota Valley Panthers. Again, 1 bad quarter, the 2nd, saw the Huskies fall behind and they couldn’t catch back up, losing 55-61.
