The Dakota Valley girls (6-2) took on West Central (6-1) Jan. 12 in West Central. The Panthers succumbed to the Trojans, losing 47 to 59.

It wasn’t until the second quarter that the Trojans really pulled away from the Panthers, scoring 17 points to DV’s 8.

“West Central made a run in the second quarter and another early in the 3rd quarter to put them up 48-30,” head coach Tammy Lilly said. “We made a run in the 4th quarter with Jorja VanDenHul scoring 11 of her 13 points in the 4th quarter to bring us back to 8 down, when Rylee Rosenquist fouled out.”

Before fouling out, Rylee Rosenquist put up 14 points. Also with 14 points was Rachel Rosenquist. In addition to her 13 points, Jorja VanDenHul had 8 boards.

“West Central is a very good team and we battled hard, we just couldn’t get the ball to drop enough in the middle of the game,” Lilly concluded.

West Central’s only loss was to White River. Dakota Valley has had losses to Tea Area, Viborg-Hurley and, now, West Central.
