Dakota Valley decimated Lennox in the Region 4A semi-final match Nov. 5. Lennox was only able to get a combined score of 25 in the three games – 25-11, 25-8, 25-6.
“We served really well tonight,” assistant coach Lonnie Bermel said. “We established our blocking game early. We have been putting a strong emphasis on blocking this week in practice.”
Due to that practice, the team had a combined 4.5 blocks and over 17 touches. But the name of the game came in aces. Sammi Archer dominated the court with 8 aces on the night, along with 10 digs. Logan Miller followed her with 4 aces, a kill, 29 assists, 3 digs and a block. Atchison had 3 aces, 8 kills, an assist, 10 digs and a block assist. Rachel Rosenquist dominated the net getting 15 kills and a block and had 2 aces. Jorja VanDenHul added 2 more aces to the team’s 17 on the night along with 4 kills, 2 digs and a block assist.
Dakota Valley moved on to the SoDak 16 and played Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. against St. Thomas More. The winner of that game qualified for state play.
